October 25, 2019. The IC CAE program inducted 15 new scholars from the three participating universities.

Congratulations to five CAE scholars, 2 from UAH, 2 from AAMU, and 1 from Tuskegee University, who have been selected to attend a summer workshop hosted by DIA. The workshop will be held in DC and will pack lots of important IC information into two weeks. The workshop will be in June with another two week workshop for additional scholars in July. Job well done, scholars!

April 9-10, 2019. Over 100 scholars, faculty, speakers, panelists, and distinguished guests attended the first annual Intelligence Community Center for Academic Excellence in Critical Technologies colloquium on April 9-10, 2019. The theme of the colloquium was Careers in the IC and was hosted by the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), which is in partnership with Alabama A & M University (AAMU), and Tuskegee University (TU). The colloquium commenced with informative presentations by Dr. Glenn Priddy, former director of the Missile and Space Intelligence Center (MSIC), and Dr. Mark Tillman, (MSIC) regarding “What Is the Intelligence Community?” and “Critical Technologies in the Intelligence Community”. Other sessions included panels of IC professionals who brought their experiences and information on “Choosing Career Paths and Working with the Intelligence Community.”

Scholars were also able to network with each other and with IC professionals. The evening events included a reception and dinner at the Davidson Center at the U. S. Space and Rocket Center. The Keynote Speaker was Mark Clark, current director of MSIC. Day 2 started with a panel discussion with more IC professionals who talked about “Careers in the Intelligence Community”. Closing remarks and observations were made by Robert Dixon (MSIC). After the stellar panels and presentations, scholars engaged in a team building exercise where they interviewed another scholar then presented to the group some characteristics about the scholar which would make him/her an ideal candidate for an IC career. Scholars and guests were dismissed to take a self-guided tour of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center museum.

Overall, the colloquium was an outstanding event, offering much information to the scholars, providing a setting for them to interact with each other and with the IC professionals, and allowing the IC professionals to recognize the talents of the next generation IC.

March 8, 2019. The Intelligence Community Center for Academic Excellence in Critical Technologies was honored to induct 36 scholars into the program on March 8, 2019. The IC CAE in Critical Technologies is a consortium led by the University of Alabama in Huntsville with partners Alabama A & M University and Tuskegee University. As a scholar students are given the opportunity to earn university credentials in Critical Technologies at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Expertise in the areas of artificial intelligence, machine learning, data visualization, computational statistics and algorithm design, and computer science analytical writing and briefing will enable the national security workforce of the future to "ensure the right data gets to the right people at the right time in the right form" (2014 National Intelligence Strategy).

February 14, 2019. Dr. Susan Bridges visited with students and faculty at Tuskegee University to tell them about the IC CAE program and opportunities for IC CAE scholars. She also gave a presentation entitled Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and described research at UAH in these areas.

January 15, 2019. Dr. Susan Bridges gave a presentation to the first UAH ACM Student Chapter meeting of 2019 describing the IC CAE program at UAH and inviting students to apply to become IC CAE Scholars. Students were provided with handouts describing the benefits of becoming an IC CAE Scholar and told how to apply to the program online. Approximately 50 students attended the event.

December 12, 2018. The IC CAE Kickoff Meeting was held at UAH with representatives of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and the Office of Director of Intelligence (ODNI). UAH President Dr. Robert Altenkirch welcomed the participants and gave a briefing describing UAH capabilities and plans for future growth. The Director of the Missile and Space Intelligence Center (MSIC), Mark Clark, also welcomed participants and expressed the support of MSIC for the newly designated IC CAE. Mrs. Noemi Pizarro-Hyman (IC CAE Director) provided an overview of the IC CAE program and welcomed UAH, AAMU, and Tuskegee to the program. A full day of information exchange with the universities followed.

November, 2018. Dr. Bridges gave a presentation entitled Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning presentation at AAMU and introduced students and faculty to the IC CAE program. Students were given information about the benefits of becoming an IC CAE Scholar. A number of students expressed interest in the program.
