Principal Investigator: Dr. Sara Graves, a University of Alabama Board of Trustees University Professor, has overall management responsibility for the IC CAE grant. Dr. Graves is the senior member of the UAH Department of Computer Science and Director of the UAH Information Technology and Systems Center. She has been involved in the creation and evolution of courses and curricula over many years. As Director of ITSC, she directs research and development in the areas of machine learning, artificial intelligence, cyber security, geospatial analysis and sustainable cyberinfrastructure. She leads a successful partnership managing several projects with DIA/MSIC, and has been active with other intelligence and defense groups for many years. She is a founding member of DIA’s National Consortium for Measurement and Signature Intelligence (NCMR).

Co-Principal Investigator (Alabama A & M University): Dr. Joel Fu, Professor, Department of Computer Science, is leading AAMU’s efforts in establishing and updating undergraduate course materials for Artificial Intelligence, Computer Graphics, and Image Processing. Over the past five years, Dr. Fu has broadened the participation of underrepresented students by training undergraduate and graduate students in STEM related activities. For the IC CAE Critical Technologies program, Dr. Fu is extending his teaching and mentoring of underrepresented students in areas of artificial intelligence, computer graphics, and image processing.

Co-Principal Investigator (Tuskegee University): Dr. Cassandra Thomas, Associate Professor, Computer Science Department, Cassandra Thomas is leading TU’s effort in enhancing and developing course materials in the Critical Technology focus areas of Data Visualization, Algorithm Design, and Computational Statistics. Dr. Thomas’ current research includes secure mobile software development and strategies to attract and retain African- American students in STEM disciplines (with emphasis on computer-related fields).

Program Coordinator (University of Alabama in Huntsville): Josie Morgan is responsible for coordinating day-to day-activities of the IC CAE. Ms. Morgan most recently served as a financial officer and scholarship coordinator in secondary education and previously worked at the Alabama Supercomputer Authority.
